CHURCH ANNIVERSARY
CELEBRATION AT NORTHCOTE The 80ih anniversary of the consecration by Bishop of St. John the Baptist Church, Northcote, was celebrated yesterday, large congregations attending both services. Archdeacon Hawkins was the preacher in tho morning, • and Archbishop Averill conducted a confirmation service last evening.
Tho archbishop congratulated the congregation on the continued success of the "golden offering" system of direct giving, inaugurated five years ago, in lieu of raising church finance hv bazaars and similar functions. He also expressed gratification that tho parish had this year, for the lirst time over a long period, raised it.s full missionary quota. The offertories for the day amounted to £132 as compared with £llO last year.
