Australian Actress' Venture
OWN THEATRE STARTED [from a special correspondent] LONDON, May 24 Londoners are admiring the courage and determination of Miss Elva Bell, the 21-year-okl Australian actress, who has put all her savings into her own theatrical company, confident that they will not he lost. Her first production, Bernard Shaw's "Pygmalion," opened recently at the Royal Artillery Theatre, Woolwich, London. "1 have taken the lease of the theatre and I am going to run it as a sort of repertory theatre," she naid. "But I am not having the same people plnving every week. The public gets tired of always seeing the same faces." For the last few weeks Miss Bell lias been leading a hectic life rehearsing and fixing the business side of her venture. She intends to play in the productions herself. "It will be a fight at first, I know," she addod "But I am determined to succeed. 1 am refusing to entertain the idea of failure. I must admit, though, that there is rather more to the business side of my undertaking than I had at first iinairinod."
