Studio Restaurants
For no particular reason, - there is a general wave of restaurant reform going on in Hollywood studios. Extensive reorganisation has been undertaken at the 20th Century Fox restaurant, the Cafe de Paris. The cafe has been losing money. So the studio manager has been devising means of giving extra attraction and gaining extra revenue. Henceforward Tyrone PoWer, Alice Faye and Shirley Temple will pay an extra 10 cents (about twopence) on each meal. They will also eat off "modernistic" tables, designed to save the laundry bill on traditional white tablecloths. Paramount, in its restaurant repairs, have combined business with eating. They are adding a special soundproof room where the big executives can eat their lunch in peace and discuss the dark secrets of their business unheard.
