AN ELECTRIC STORM
T)EAIt ANNE SHIRLEY, —We experienced our first electrical storm since the beginning of 15KJ9, the other day. The sun rose a little way above the horizon and the warm sun-ravs made each little raindrop sparkle like a rare diamond. Borne swiftly 011 the north wind came sailing the black angry cloud-ships, filling the sky and hiding the cheerful face of the sun. The World became quiet, it seemed as though the great out-of-doors was standing on tip-toe, waiting for mysterious happening. Then, suddenly, as though a signal had been given, came a roll of thunder. 1 started and wondered if the unseen conductor would soon work up his invisible orchestra to a wild finale. But no—not yet. The long grass in the meadow swayed, in time at the hint of a freshening breeze; but, still, an awesome quietness had settled over everything. It seemed as though the conductor signalled his band again, for a little louder came the thunder. Presently, however, the whole skv seemed full of sound as the thunder crashed and rolled overhead. Meanwhile, down poured the rain. Grey steely spears which beat mercilessly against everyone and everything. Ten minutes later the clouds broke and the silver lining showed through. The thunder receded to the hills, muttering as it went; the rain stopped; the sun shone again, and across the sky a beautiful rainbow was tied. With wishing the page all good wishes, 1 shall close now. Your sincere circler, Audrey Levis, Paengaroa.
