Boleros Go on for Ever
Says NIKI OF PARIS (Exclusive to THE NEW ZEALAND HERALD) QUITE unpredicated and unexpected after having already recurred so often, is the fresh outbeak of boleromania. 1 describe it thus because for several years now women have been addicted to collecting boleros, and it would have appeared to be time that a halt was called and some different fashion started to take their place. Like berets, however, boleros seemingly will go on forever and never become old-fashioned. Of course, the newest boleros are different from their predecessors in that they are worn in many, • many, different ways and fiaye many surprising, new tricks "up tbe;r sleeves." • 1 • ' ' ' Often the back is done up with a zip fastener instead of the usual front opening, and worn this way they give a high-tbroated modesty to bareshouldered evening dresses. being especially desirable when the whole front bodice of the bolero is studded over with sequins and rhinestones. A surprise in sleeves appears in capacious little fur boleros on whifh they are quite short, just .coming midway between shoulder and elbow. In this way they dress up a furless coat for special occasions. Of course they are just as wearable as usual over neat frocks and suits; but don't forget the best, most up-to-date way to wear your fur bolero is in the fashion-wise method—over, not
tinder, your coat—as witness the jaunty model in the sketch. Yoti may have no idea what an advantage this extra warmth can be 'tween seasons as .it is now in Paris and still more .so now in the,. New Zealand winter.
