MYSTERY FIRE
* BLAZE IN LOCKED ROOM Called to a fire in the centre of Folkestone, Kent, firemen fought ono of tho strangest outbreaks in tho history of the brigade. Forcing open a door on the first Hoor of a house in Alexander Gardens, they dashed into a room crammed to tho ceiling with a mass of articles. These included hundreds of newspapers, neatly tied up in small packages, a large number of sealed milk bottles, containing water, calces in airtight tins, clothing, tree-trunks, and bundles of. twigs and dry wood. The lire was in the centre of this mass, and is thought to have started through internal combustion. The brigade spent nearly fivo hours in gaining control. The occupier of the room, a man, has been away sinco Christmas.
