BURDEN ON LOCAL BODIES MANUKAU COUNCIL'S VIEW The Manukau County Council, at its meeting yesterday, decided not to endorso a resolution passed by the Takapuna Borough Council protesting against the burden of hospital finance and suggesting that tho matter be treated as a Government responsibility. The Takapuna council bad forwarded a copy of the resolution to the JManukau council requesting that, if the council endorsed tlic resolution, it should be sent to the Prime Minister. It was decided to take 110 action. OPINIONS OF BOROUGHS REVIEW OF SYSTEM URGED Support for the principle that the whole incidence of hospital taxation should be reviewed was given by the Mount Eden Borough Council last .. . , Tho council was considering the Takapuna Borough Council's motion dealing with hospital taxation. Tho final part of the motion urging the Government to treat tho health of tho people as its responsibility and to nationalise hospitals was not supported; but it was decided to refer the question to the Suburban Local Bodies' Association. When dealing with the Takapuna resolution, tho Mount Albert Borough Council, at .its meeting last night, decided to receive the letter and to reaffirm its previous decision to press for a complete review of the incidenco of hospital taxation.
