LIGHTING 'ADVANCEMENT •' OF ASSOCIATION • That the" commencement of tho Tasman arid Pacific air services would b«r of great importance to the future of' Eastway was stated in.the report which was presented to the fourth annual meeting of the Eastway Development Association (Inc.). It was also -suggested that some action should be. taken to commemorate the inauguration of the services. _ , -Another s'ection of lighting, from Queen Street to Gore Street, on the northern side, had been completed and steady progress during the past year was reported,. The of community lighting in the association's district must'be slow, said the report, as most of the premises in the area were occupied by wholesalers and used as offices. Ultimately the area would become a retailing one. but with Harbour Board leases nen ring expiration there was n 'natural diffidence on tho part of tenants to effect improvements. Jri< view of the fact that the city's finances were in better order, the report suggested that the streets in the area should fie regularly cleaned. The balance-sheet of the association showed n.satisfactory financial position. •The following officers were elected:—President. Mr. I). T Lewis; vice-presi-dents. Messrs. 11. S. White. P. Salmon, A.
