EYES ON PORTUGAL
FASCISTS IN SPAIN SUPPORT OF DICTATORS ANNEXATION SUGGESTED LISBON, June 16 It is reported that there is a strong movement among General Franco's Falangists (Fascists) in favour of the forcible annexation of Portugal. It is believed that the movement is encouraged by Signor Mussolini and Herr Hitler.
The Falangists urge the advantages of making the Iberian Peninsula an economic unit and claim that with Portugal's colonial Empire Spain would bo able to return to her former Imperial glory.
BRITAIN AND SOVIET MOSCOW CONVERSATIONS MOSCOW, Juno 1G The British Foreign Office Counsellor, Mr. W. Strang, and M. Molotoff, Soviet Foreign Commissar, had a conversation to-day which lasted 45 minutes. They are expected to continue their talks, although the atmosphero is not optimistic. It is rumoured that Russia desires consideration of the Far Fast in view of the tension between Britain and Bussia and Japan.
