Kyle defeating Lieutenant T. A. Duncan, of the Welsh Guards, 2 'and 1. Kyle had rounds of SO and 71. while Duncan returned cards of *75 and 82. Earlier Results Results of the quarter-finals and semi-finals were as follows: • Quarter-finals:— W. Holt (United States) defeated K. Thom (England), 3 and 2; A. Duncan (Wales) defeated R. Chapman (United States), 5 and 3; A. Kyle (Scotland) defeated J. Bruen '(lreland), 1 up; C. Stowe (England) defeated S. Roberts OVales), 1 up. Semi-finals.—Duncan defeated Stowe, S and 2; Kvlo defeated Holt, 2 and 1. Thom, who is an IS-yenr-old inexperienced player, did well to reach the quarter-finals. Surprise was caused by the elimination of Bruen in the quar-ter-finals by the ultimate winner. was the favourite for the title. Accurate Stroke Play Kyle led the Welsh champion, who is the first Welshman to reach the final, 1 iip at the end of the first nine holes. Homeward both were remark, ably accurate. He won the Carnwath open amateur tournament in 1928-29-30, the Longniddry and Moffat amateur tourneys in 1929, the Border championship in 1929-30,- and the Yorkshire amateur title in 1935-36. He uas a member of the British TSalker Cup team last year, and ho also represented Scotland in the international series. In the Walker Cup contest Kyle won his -match in the singles against F. Haas, 5 and 4.
