"FOUR'S A CROWD"

COMEDY FOR EMBASSY Another hilarious comedy, ""Four's a Crowd" has been obtained by the Embassy Theatre to head the bright programme, which will open its Auckland season to-day. Built up around the! newspaper theme, which has produced so many fine films, it has as its lead-! Dig players Errol Flynn, fresh from his triumph in "Robin Hood," Olivia de Havilland, Patric Knowlcs and Rosalind Russell, all of whom are entangled in a veritable web of love affairs. Flynn appears as a newspaper editor, who re-1 turns to this work after a period as a; publicity agent, although his real purpose is to secure a millionaire, played by Walter Connolly, as a client of his agency. He accomplishes this in enter- j taining fashion by attacking tho! millionaire in the newspaper of which he has newly become editor, and defending him through his agency. In shamelessly carrying out this trade, Flynn has also to pretend a vast interest in model trains, the hobby of his prey, and finally he wins his commission by winning a toy train race. In every way "Four's a Crowd" is outstanding entertainment. That fine suspense, which i.s so large a part of true humour, is provided throughout, 1 and the odd newspaper, which seems to exist merely for slandering the enemies of the owner and flattering ; those whose favour is desired, is an < ideal centre for the story. Olivia do ' Havilland leaves more serious roles to | give one of her finest performances as | a rich and romantic young lady, while t Rosalind Russell appears as a reporter i who\tries hard to be tho rich girl's s rival. Further humour is provided by \ the antics of a fox terrier and the more t earnest activities of a pack of blood- T hounds. \
