CHARGES OF ROBBERY

TWO MAORIS FOR TRIAL ATTACK ON HINDU ALLEGED [by telegraph—own correspondent] ROTORUA, Wednesday Robbery with violence was alleged by the police in tho Rotorua Police Court this morning, when two Maoris, Edward Rewiti Withers, aged 28, and Joseph Galvin, aged 38, were faced with a charge that on Saturday last they robbed with violence Lala Parsotam, a Hindu, of an amount of about £3 and two razors. Tho charges, which wore heard separately, were taken before Messrs. R. B. Ncsbitt and H. Johnson, J.P.'s, Mr. R. A. Potter representing Galvin and Mr. W. R. P. Moody appearing for Withers. It was alleged by tho polico that a Hindu named Lala Parsotam had last Saturday evening been lured by the two accused to a quiet spot near tho Government Gardens, where he had been struck bv Withers and held bv Galvin while Withers had gone through his pockets. Both tho accused were committed to the Supreme Court at Hamilton for trial, bail being fixed in their own recognisance of £SO, provided they report weekly to the police.
