THE LEAGUE CODE

SENIOR CHAMPIONSHIP REARRANGEMENT OF SERIES KING'S BIRTHDAY FIXTURE Arrangements in connection with the senior competition match between Richmond and Marist to be played at Carlaw Park on the King's Birthday, June 5, were discussed at last evening's meeting of the Auckland Rugby League, when it was decided to reverse the whole of the club series from May 27 to June 3. The chairman, Mr. G. Grey Campbell, said his attention had been drawn to the fact that Marist had the bye on Saturday. June 3, and would meet Richmond as a fresher team on the following Monday. Delegates contended that it was an unfair advantage, and the series was altered so that both teams will bo playing on Saturday, June 3. Tlio series set down for Juno 3 will be played on May "27. The Mount Albert club raised the point of an injured player being attended to on the sideline by a St. John Ambulance officer as the bell sounded for half-time. A ruling was sought as to whether this player could be replaced and at what time. It was decided to acquaint the club of a standing ruling that a player could be replaced, provided he is not on the field at the commencement of play in the second half. It was also pointed out that no injured player can resume playing should he be certified by a St. John Ambulance officer as unfit to resume after half-time.

Mr. Campbell said he was pleased with the alertness of the line umpires, and there was a lot of improvement in their control in regard to late tackling. It was reported that arrangements had been finalised with the Northland League for the Newton club to play a match at Whangarei on Saturday next. Mr. R. Doble, chairman of the insurance committee, reported that the claims for insurance last Saturday were heavy. It was decided to draw the attention to one club to the question of providing medical certificates.
