WHANGAREI NOTES
RESIDENTS FAREWELLED PRESENTATIONS MADE Prior to her departure from Whangarei to Pahiatua, Miss A. Vaughan, one of the supervisors of the Whangarei telephone exchange, was farewelled at a gathering of post office officials on Thursday night. On behalf of her fellow officers, the postmaster, Mr. L. A. Burns, made a presentation to Miss Vaughan. A foundation member of the Kensington Croquet Club and one who has held practically every office, Mrs. E. G. W. Tibbits, was farewelled by members at a meeting on tho club's lawns on Thursday afternoon. In presenting Mrs. Tibbits with a travelling rug from the members, tho president, Mrs. A. Fairley, paid a tribute to her services, mentioning the menner in which she had always helped new members to gain a knowledge of the game. Airs. E. N. Boult, a life member of tho club, also spoko. Games were played and later afternoon tea was served by members. Mrs. Tibbits will make her homo at Papakura. A pleasant bridge evening was held in tlio Kensington Croquet Club's pavilion, organised by club members. Mrs. J. Courtney and Mrs. J. Sanders won the prizes, which were presented by the club president, Mrs. A. Fairley. Supper was served at the conclusion of play.
