AUTUMN WEDDING

AHIER—RiYBURN BRIDE IN MAGNOLIA SATIN MAIDS' ATTRACTIVE FROCKS Large bowls of autumn shaded chrysanthemums and spindle berries, and hanging baskets of fern decorated St. Barnabas' Church, Mount Eden, on Saturday afternoon, when Miss Betty Randall Ryburn, second daughter of Mr. and Mrs. F. J. B. Ryburn, "The Oaks," Paterangi, was married to Mr. George Oswald Hamley Ahier, elder son of Mrs. M. Ahier, of Mount Eden, and the late Mr. G. Ahier, of Te Awamutu. The ceremony, which was fully choral, was performed by the Rev. G. T. Robson.

The bride, who was given away by her father, wore a frock of pearl ninon over magnolia satin, with a sunray pleated skirt, which {lowed into a long, soft train. The high-waisted bodice had a softly pleated panel both back and front, and was finished with a square neckline and stiffened puffed sleeves. The bride's veil of cream tulle, which she wore over her face as she entered the church, was caught with a topknot of tuberoses, and she carried a sheaf of water lilies.

11l attendance as bridesmaids were Misses Joyce and Yvonne Ryburn (sisters of the bride), Miss Jennio McLaren nnd Miss Lyn Ahier (sister of the bridegroom). They were dressed alike in frocks of primrose georgette, with full picture skirts and wide bands of gauging at the high waistlines. The bodices were made with shirred panels back and front, and fully puffed sleeves, a beading of gold finishing the square necklines. Circlets of autumn tinted leaves were worn by the bridesmaids, and they carried armlet bouquets of golden chrysanthemums. The bridegroom was attended by Mr. Stanley Oliver, as best man, and Mr. J. Simpkins, as groomsman. The ushers at the church were Mr. Cyril Ryburn (brother of the bride), Mr. Howard Empson, Mr. Norman Bertram, and Mr. Stuart Shepherd. After the ceremony a reception was held at the Parnell Park kiosk, Mrs. Ryburn receiving the guests in a frock of fuchsia crepe suede, toning hat of peachbloom felt, trimmed with ostrich tips, and a grey squirrel necklet. She carried a posy of daphne and violets. Mrs. Ahier, who assisted her, wore an ensemble of amythest chenille sheer and toning hat, and carried a posy of cyclamens. Mrs. Howard Empson (sister of- the bride), wore a cocoa brown frock and small toque, with a short coat embroidered in gold. The bride travelled in a teal blue tailored suit, matching hat and navy blue accessories.
