CARNIVAL NIGHT
COLOURFUL CEREMONY CORONATION OF QUEEN ONEHUNCA CONVENT SCHOOL A function in aid of the funds of the Onehunga Convent School, attracted a crowded audience in the Foresters' Theatre last week, when Miss Mary Henehan was crowned queen of the school, by Monsignor J. Cahill. The queen was attended by Maureen Coldicutt, Gay Le Vesque, Betty Boland and Gabriel Brennan, dressed in golden coloured robes. The trainbearer was Lois Collins.
Other groups taking part in the. procession were Patricia McCloskey, a princess in soft pink robes, attended by Avis White, Ruth Baker, Catherine Shepherd and Norma Pascoe. Peter McClosky was trainbearer. A third party of pupils in cyclamen robes who attended the princess, Valmai Roberts, comprised Shirley Picknell, Yvonne Daws, Joan McLaren and Mary Beeson, with Rao Roberts as trainbearer. A princess in blue, Mary Fitznatrick, was attended by Marie Shepherd, Mario Douglas, Anne Nightingale and Maureen Collins, with Marie Turner as her trainbearer. They were attractively attired in blue. Appropriate presentations to the queen and her princesses were made by Monsignor Cahill, followed with suitable acknowledgements by Messrs. P. Henehan, P. McCloskey, G. Roberts and J. Fitzpatrick. A number of vocal and instrumental selections was rendered by the pupils of the school, followed by a programme of old-time and modern dancing.
