PRICES OF MEALS
INCREASE ANTICIPATED HIGH COSTS AT WELLINGTON {by telegraph—OWN correspondent] WELLINGTON. Saturday Meals aro expected to become dearer in Wellington. At a recent meeting of tho confectioners and restaurantkeepers it was agreed that, with the price of foodstuffs rising almost every week, and the new conditions of hours and wages of employees, a rise in the price of meals was inevitable, if not immediately, then beforo very long. No decision was made, but the matter is to bo considered again. In the opinion of one member, it is practically certain that tho Is 6d meal will bo advanced to 2s, and that, if prices continue to rise during the next six months as they havo during the last six months, afternoon tea prices, now Is, will be raised to Is 6d before tho end of the year.
