FRUIT FOR ORPHANS
TON AND A-HALF OF APPLES BIRDLOVERS* CLUB COLLECTION A ton and a-lialf of apples was collected during tho week-end by two members of the Auckland Birdlovers' Club, Mr. A. Tomblinson and the honorary secretary, Mr. A. E. Hamilton, for distribution to orphanages in the Auckland district. The fruit was donated by orchardists in the Huapai district, and will bo distributed to the orphanages to-day. A number of fruitgrowers have asked the collectors to return in three weeks for further supplies of ■ apples. Mr. Hamilton last night expressed his gratitude at tho very practical interest the orchardists had taken in tho club's work for orphans.
