CENTENNIAL PLANS
PARK SCHEME AT TUAKAU ./ GOOD PROGRESS WITH WORK [from our OWN correspondent] TUAKAU, Friday Tuakau can probably claim the distinction of being more advanced than at least most towns in New Zealand with the construction of its Centennial memorial, which is to take the form of a park and playground at the public swimming pool, in Bollard Road. The ground has been cleared, ploughed and worked down ready for grassing, and the Department of Agriculture is being consulted as to the best varieties of grass to. sow and the best method of establishing a good sward. Other work in hand on the area is the construction of a retaining wall where the creek debouches from the pool, which is, in reality, an open-air concrete swimming bath. Voluntary help is being given in the work, and the following have been elected an executive: —Messrs. A. B. Fordyce, W. Barnabv, A. F. Escott, J. Geraghty and A. A. Boyd.
