VICE-REGAL TOUR

LORD GALWAY AT TAIHAPE; RECEPTION IN THE DOMAIN STRENGTH OF BRITISH EMPIRE [bt TELEGRAPH—OWN correspondent] TAIHAPE, Friday The Governor-General, Lord Galway, paid his first official visit to'Taihape to-day, accompanied by Captain Lord Dormer. The town was gaily decorated with flags and bunting for the occasion. The Mayor. Mr. L. B. H. de Latour, and borough councillors conducted His Excellency to the oval at the DomainLord Gahvay inspected the guard of honour provided by the Taihape platoon of the Wellington-West Coast Regiment; and then made an inspection of other units on parade, including schoolchildren, returned soldiers, territorials, mounted rifles, rangers, Girl Guides, Boy Scouts and cubs. X 5 A civic reception was tendered by the Mayor. Lord Gafway said he. appreciated the welcome and regretted that he did not Jjave more time at his disposal to visit the surrounding country.
