Avon Waters
[ Ever flowing, softly going, | In its careless liberty; j | Gently sliding, slowly gliding, | ■ Ever onwards to the sea; : j Pure and sparkling in the breeze, • • Kissed by drooping willow trees, i [ Laving banks of verdant grass, j j Where the floating petals pass; j j Flows the Avon merrily. • j Shadowed bridges, grassy ridges, \ | Where the waters, rippling, flow; } j Children playing, aged staying, j Wistful for the long-ago; j | Murmuring music in the stream i j Lures the traveller there, to dream; j : On the river's silvered face ■ | All the moods of life to trace; j | While the Avon Waters flow. i | Life is flowing, ever going ] ] To the sea of destiny; j : Onward ever, halting never, j | None an solve its mystery: ■ • There are shadows in the bends, j j Where the rippling music ends; ■ j But where life flows clear and strong : | Every hindrance makes a song; { j Like the A on s melody. i —Alex.
