The Adventures of Two Dwarfs
Two happy dwarfs, Peter and Paul, Lived in a house with a garden small; Said Peter one day: 'Let's have some fun,We'll get the car out and go for a run. "Hurrah!" shouted Paul, dancing with glee, "We'll drive right down to the beach and the sea, , , , And we won't come home untu it s darti. Oh, Peter, Won't it be a larkl So they cranked up the old Maybenot car, (She would take them a long Way. or maybe not far), . , i And they started off With joy in great ityte, Peter was driver, and in the first mile Hedges and trees simply flew past; "Hey!" shouted Paul, "You re driving too Wc might hit something, and where would i we be?"
"It's all right," said Peter, "Leave it to me I" Paul clutched his hat as they whizzed round a bend, . , The old Maybenot almost stood on end, Then righted herself with a. rattling and Paul's heart a quivering and a'quaking. ,~, , , "Stop! Stop I" he cried, I want to get out! "Ha! Hal" laughed Peter, ' I can hear you. Don't shout!' So Paul sal tight with staring eyes, And nou) and again he'd utter loud cries As they missed other cars in the mad run! Now Peter's face began to look glum, He pulled little levers and put on the brake But the Maybenot, with a shuddering shake, Went all the faster (the silly old thing), Chuckling With joy at her one great fling! They could not stop her, try as they might, She'd show them she could go, and give them a fright I
And fright she did give poor Paul and Peter, This gay-hearted, unreliable old two-seater I She ran until she exhausted her fuel, Then she kicked up her wheels like a young mule, And deposited them onto a grassy mound, And where Peter and Paul had hit the hard
ground, Though bones were not broken, it hurt quite
a lot, Said Paul: I'ShejTpight have picked a soft /? spot!''
Peter and Paul's Motor Drive
To the car, Peter said in a tone memi:u scold, '■. ■ <; j; ' -. ,- "You've got to leant to do as you're tolj All night we'll leave you here to repent, ' To think about the bad day you've spent. It's punishment for trying out trices on ta, Good-night! Sleep tightl Silly old bust" So they trudged back, home many milu, ij These two dwarfs, who with sunny smil u# Had started out earlier to hope some fun In the Maybenot car they look for a naif i —Nellie E.
