"OVER THE MOUNTAIN" "And far away on a! snow slope he noticed a tiny object moving and approach the rock step." That was the* last view; they had of Mallory, climbing Mount Everest. Suppose now, someone were to read the vivid account of the climb by Sir Francis Younghusband, indulge in an unwise supper, go to bed and before getting to sleep browse through "Mcin Knmpf" or "Insanity Fair," he might bo expected to dream a series of adventures like those Mr. Huthven Todd has imagined in "Over the Mountain."
It was a prodigious mountain and Michael was tho first to climb it. And lp! on the other side was a Fascist State, where he spent a hectic holiday. It is splendid satire, a parody of all Europe's madness. What a pity they cannot read it in Germany! > The story of the climb is a fine piece of writing. Martin's body is in the snows near the rock step. This is our nightmare recollection of Mallory. We shall leave tho descent and the unknown land to the reader. This is quite an unusual novel and deserves a large public.
