GRADUATION BALL

GAY UNIVERSITY SCENE informal celebrations MANY STUDENTS ATTEND « , Foliating the capping ceremony in the Town Hall, the annual graduation ball was held last night at Auckland University College and was attended by a large number of students and their friends. Always a popular event, the function was thoroughly enjoyable and informal. The assembly hall and library were both used for dancing, where unusual modernistic decorations wore carried out, while the main entrance hall was decorated with bamboo foliage and arranged with chairs as a rendezvous during the dance intervals. Bright orchestral music set a merry pace for the dance, which was attended by several hundred students and thoir friends.-#

The official guests were tlic Mayor, Sir Ernest Davis, the town clerk, Mr. .T. Moiling, Professor G. W. von Zedlit/, of Victoria University College, and Mr. W. H. Cocker, president of the college, and Mrs. Cooker. Airs. Cocker was wearing a frock of mist blue georgette with a gold stitched coat.

The guests were received by the president of the students' association, Mr. J. C. Reid, and by the vice-president, Miss Shirley Entrican, who was wearing Royal .blue taffetas with a corsage spray of pink carnations. Mrs. Reid was in white taffetas with a black velvet cloak. The Graduands
