DISPLAY OF DOGS

AUCKLAND SHOW CLOSE COMPETITION STANDARD GENERALLY HIGH . Good entries and close competition were features of the Auckland Kennel Club's dog show, which was the main attraction at the Winter Exhibition yesterday. Outstanding among the dogs, which were generally of high standard, was a Royal Show winner and champion in tho smooth fox terrier section, and one or two other prominent Australian dogs also were entered. There was an increase in tho numbers of Alsatians shown, and the appearance of unusual breeds, such as the Afghan wolfhound, and tho olkhound, added interest to the show. Several sections havo yet to be judged, and will bo comploted to-day. The Kennel Club's trophies were won as follows: —Best terrier dog: J. Noton's Jerry ideal. Best bitch: Mrs. V.
