FALSE STATEMENT
YOUNG MAN FINED £2O Charged with making a false statement xirider the Employment Promotion Act for the purpose of obtaining a benefit, a young man, Thomas Edward Martin, labourer (Mr. Ehvarth), was fined £2O and 10s costs by Mr. C. R. Orr Walker, S.M., in the Magistrate's Court yesterday. On a further charge of obtaining £1 15s by means of a false pretence, he was convicted and ordered to,come up for sentence if called upon within 12 months. Mr. W. A. Black, representing the Social Security Department, prosecuted.
