WORK DURING HOSTILITIES [from ouu own corrf.spondf.nt3 HAMILTON', Thursday An account of the work being done by European and native missionaries in China during the present hostilities was given at a combined meeting of the Waikato Presbytery and Women's Presbyterian Association, by Mrs. 1). N. MacDiarmid, who, with her husband, the Rev. D. X. MacDiarmid, recently visited the Presbyterian mission fields in China and India. Mrs. MacDiarmid paid a. tribute to the coolness, courage and resourcefulness of the native nurses in hospitals, even when bombs were falling in the vicinity. A fine spirit permeated the Chinese people, and the New Life Movement, inaugurated by Marshal and Madame Chiang Kai-shek, was making a great appeal to the people, and inspiring them to sacrifice and service. Mrs. MacDiarmid also gave some interesting information regarding mission work in India, especially among the outcasts.
