BUDGE'S SUPREMACY VICTORIES OVER FRED PERRY Donald Budge continues to defeat Fred Perry decisively, states an American writer. The first engagement was considered as a warming-up affair, after which Perry was expected to show flashes of his Wimbledon triumphs and surprise Budge. Any lingering doubts as to Donald Budge's world supremacy 011 the tenuis courts have been entirely set at rest as Budge continues his crushing defeats of Fred Perry. The crowds have seen Budge run Perry mercilessly from corner to corner with his superior ground strokes, and volleying and smashing overhead with ruthless finality. Many feel that Budge has damaged considerably the financial prospects of the tour by the; riithlcissness with which he despatched Perry. Perry does not seoin to be the man who held forth invincibly at Wimbledon, when Budge's game was still in the formative stage and short of maturity. He can get little pace off his backhand, and his running forehand failed him time and again as he sought to reach the net, while his volleys went astray in the early stages.
