RUGBY FOOTBALL
TO-MORROW'S MATCHES EDEN PARK ATTRACTIONS INTERESTING CURTAIN-RAISER PONSONBY PLAYS TECHNICAL . The third seizes of matches in the first round of tho Auckland Rugby Union's senior championship competition will bq played to-morrow afternoon. Patrons of Eden Park will be again well catered for. Tho curtainraiser will bo between the Grafton and Training College teams. The reappearance of the latlter fifteen after the fine display it gave against Ponsonby last week will bo eagerly looked for. Grafton's exhibitions on wet grounds the last two Saturdays suggest that the team will play brilliant football and so, under" favourable conditions to-mor-row, the curtain-raiser should bo highly spectacular. Tho main attraction will bo the meeting of Ponsonby and Technical Old Boys. The former side has not yet suffered defeat and at full strength will bo difficult to dispose of. Technical made a good showing against Grafton on opening: day and by Manukau last week. Technical is a young and improving combination, which is liable to effect a surprise at any time. Marist will go to Devonport to play North Shore and on present form should account for tho suburban fifteen. - A keen contest appears likely at Onehunga, where. Grammar will meet Manukau. Both teams aro young and there saould 'not bo a wide margin between them. Two second division matches will be played at Eden Park at three o'clock. Suburbs meeting Northcoto on' No. 2 ground, and College Rifles playing Pamell on No. 3 ground. University will oppose Eden at Gribble-Hirst Park, while Takapuna will go to Otahuhu to meet tho suburban team at Sturges Park. - Following aro the teams':— UNIVERSITY , Second Grade A, v, Panmure, at "Western Springs, 3 p.m.—Bailoy, Turbott, Day, Grierson, Martin, , Heskctn, Prontice.
