DEATH OF MR. G. H. POWNALL DOMINION RUGBY PRESIDENT [BY TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION*] WAXGANUI, Thursday The death has occurred erf Mr. G. H. Pownall, a former president of the NewZealand Eugbj* Union. Mr. Pownall had been a resident of Wanganui for 50 years, and was an old boy of the "Wanganui Collegiate School.
Sir. Pownall represented Wanganui in Rugby, tennis and athletics. He was a noted middle-distaneo runner in liis day. He was one of the foundation members of the Wanganui Lawn Tennis Association, and was for many years associated with the administration of both Rugby and tennis in Wanganui. He was a life member of both the Wanganui and A'ew Zealand Rugby Unions. A public-spirited citizen, Sir. Pownall took a keen interest in local body affairs, and was a foundation member of the Wanganui and District Development League. He was a prominent Mason. Sir. Pownall is survived by his wife, one son and one daughter.
