Mrs. J. W. Bailey returned to Auckland from Napier yesterday. Miss Claire Danby, of Remuera Road, returned yesterday from Rotorua. Mrs. A. M. Law, of Rotorua, is visiting Mrs. M. Barnley, Mission Bay. Mrs. Max Blackie returned yesterday to To Kuiti after spending Easter in Auckland. At the Central Hotel are;— Mrs. E. M. Ludbrook, Mrs. E. M. Bailey (Bay of Islands). Miss Honey Lane, who spent the Easter holidays in Auckland, has returned to Gisborne. Mrs. George Pitcaithly, of Burwootl Crescent, Remuera, has returned from a short visit to Hamilton. Mrs. J. M. Wilson and Mrs. J. F. Cox, of Portland Road, Remuera, returned this week from a visit to Hamilton. Mrs. M. E. Blair and her daughter. Miss Margery Townend, of Rotorua, are spending a short holiday in Auckland. Mrs. A. Osborne (England), Mrs. F. Marks (London) and Mrs. Alfred Caselburg (Masterton) are at the Grand Hotel. Mrs. J. Marsden Caughcy, of Mount Albert, accompanied by Misses Joan and Mary Caughey, spent the Easter vacation at Rotorua. After spending the Easter holidays with her mother, Mrs. R. J. Koefoed. of Orapei, Mrs. R. Mahon has returned to her homo in Gisborne. Mrs. L. C. Robinson, of Wellington, and her daughter, Miss Hazel Robinson, are visiting Auckland, and will remain hero until early next week. Mrs. Edwin East, of Opotiki, is spending a holiday in Auckland with her mother, Mrs. Q. Addison McConnell, of Cornwall Park Avenue, Epsom.

Miss Gwen Langford, Miss Z. Peglar and Miss Betty Reeves, who have been spending a cruising holiday in the Gulf and at Kawau, have returned to Auckland. 4

Mrs. J. T. Coote and Miss Peggy Coote, and Ascot Avenue, Remuera, left by the Awatea on Tuesday en route for England. They will spend five weeks in Sydney before continuing their journey to London.

The Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, Auckland, recently benefited from a donation of £lO made by Mrs. P. H. Smith, being the proceeds of a gymkhana which sho held at Tamaki early this year.

The social committee of the New Lynn branch of the Labour Party held a successful dance in St. Andrew's Hall, New Lynn. The committee of helpers included Mrs. Allen, Mrs. Sewell, Mrs. Brechelt, Mrs. H. Brown (honorary secretary), Messrs. Pyle, Maunder, Sewell and Brechelt.
