OPENING SENIOR DRAW SELECTION OF ALL BLACKS TRIALS PROPOSED Entries for the senior and senior reserve grades in the Auckland Rugby competitions were accepted by' the Auckland Rugby Union management committee at its meeting last night. Light teams entered in the senior first division, eight in the senior second division, and seven in the senior reserve grade.

The senior draw for the opening day's play on April 'Jvl was announced as follows: Grafton v. Technical, North Shore v. Pon* son by, Grammar v. Marist, Manukau v. Training College. Second Division.—University v. Suburbs. College Rifles v. Otahuhu, Eden v. Takapuna, Northcote v. Parnell. The report and balance-sheet of the New Zealand Rugby Union were received, and it was stated that the annual meeting would he held on May 3. Messrs. Baker (chairman) and Orrell- (deputy-chairman), were appointed Auckland delegates to the meeting. Mr. L. Carmine was nominated for the position of vice-president of the New Zealand Union, and Mr. F. E. Sutherland for a position on -the New Zealand Rugby Council. ]n nominating Mr. Sutherland, Mr.. O. S. Harnc.v said that he was a man of known ability and wide experience in executive positions connected with the Rugby game. It was decided that Colonel J. G. Roache should again be nominated as Auckland's representative for the New Zealand Rugby Union executive committee. Mr. F. W. Lucas was nominated for the North Island selection committee of three. In reierence. to the position of sole New Zealand selector, the chairman. Mr. A. Baker, said that the union had last year nominuted Mr. Norman McKenzie, of Hawke's Bay. He had lately been in touch with Mr. McKenzie, who had said he was not: prepared to accept nomination at present. It was decided to propose Mr. E. McKenzie. of Wairarapa, as New Zealand selector. The method of selecting New Zealand teams was also discussed, and the following remit, proposed by Mr. L. Meek, was approved for submission to the annual meeting of the New Zealand Rugby Uniun: —'"That for the purposes of selection of the next All Blacks, district or regional trials be held—at least four in the North Island and three in the South Island, followed by a Possibles v. Probables match in each island, the final selection to be made after a New Zealand Possibles v. Prohables match at the end of this season or the beginning of next." During the discunsion of the remit, which was carried unanimonsly. the opinion was expressed by several members that the North v. South Island match should not be regarded as a trial match, as. to do so might preclude certain players from having an opportunity of showing their ability. The following reinstatements were aoproved:—J. J. Diaii. J. C. Sparnom, W. Hodgson, IX R. Shadbolt, It. J. Shadbolt, Don Gray. ; A letter was received from the Waitemata Club stating that, after further consideration. it had been decided not to enter a senior team. The chairman referred with regret to the death of' Mr. S.vd. Hinton. a member of the management committee from 1910 to 11W1. A vote of sympathy with Mr. Hinton's relatives was passed. '

JUNIOR COMPETITIONS COMMENCEMENT ON APRIL 29 A meeting of the junior management board oT the Auckland Rugby Union last evening decided to commence all competitions on April 29. Entries for all grades will close on Friday. April 21. Weighing-iin of all clubs is to take place during the next two weeks at the headquarters of the various clubs.
