FAIR TO FINE AND CALM MORNING FOGS PROBABLE The weather report anil forecast for New Zealand issued hv the Government meteorologist last evening were as follows: —An intense and extensive anticyclone is centred over New Zealand. The forecast is for light and variable winds, south-easterlies predominating in the north, ami northerlies in the south. Seas smooth to moderate. Eastern Taxman Sea: Light to moderate and variable winds and smooth to moderate seas. The weather is likely to be fair to fine, with mild day but cool night temperatures, and some morning fogs.

SPECIAL AUCKLAND FORECAST FAIR TO FIXE AND MILD The Government meteorologist issued to the Hkiiai.d last evening the following special forecast for the Auckland Province:—Light and variable winds, with south-easterlies predominating. The weather is likely tq be fair to fine and mild..Seas smooth to moderate. YESTERDAY'S WEATHER Auckland.—The morning was sunny and was followed by cloudy conditions during the afternoon and night. The wind was light from the south. The maximum temperature was 66 degrees and the minimum 57 degrees. Barometric pressure was very high, with a rising' tendency. Barometer, midnight 30.51 in. (1033 millibars) Midnight, Tuesday 30.4 Gin. (1031 millibars) Wellington.—The day was brilliantly fine, with no wind during the morning and a light southerly in the afternoon. The maximum temperature was 65.3 degrees. At 3.30 p.m. tho barometer reading was 30.45 in. (1031 millibars). Christchurfch. —The early morning was foggy, but the remainder of the day fine and sunny until T;he late afternoon, when fog again came down. Tho maximum temperature was 62 degrees. The barometer was steady, the 5 p.m. reading being 30.44 in. (1030.7 millibars). Dunedin. —The weather was fine and warm, with bright sunshine and a cloudless sky. There was a slight breeze from tile south-west, but temperatures were warm throughout the day, the maximum being 65 degrees. The barometer fell slightly at midday, but read 30.52 in.
