NATIONAL PARTY
CANDIDATE HONOURED PRESENTATION AT MANGERE A function in recognition of the services of Mr. K. B. Tennent to the National Party as candidate for the Otahuhu seat at the last election, was held in Mangere East Hall by the electorate committee on Thursday night. There was an attendance of about 300 people, representative of all the branches in the constituency. The chairman of the Otahuhu electorate executive, Mr. W. J. Nicholson, made a presentation of a silver entree dish and salver, suitably inscribed to Mr Tennent, and referred to the splendid efforts which he had made as candidate. The chairman of the Auckland division of the National Party, Mr. George Mills, also eulogised the work ot Mr. Tennent, the branches and the executive. , . In reply, Mr. Tennent urged the party supporters to continue w-ith their efforts. Mrs. Tennent received a bouquet from the lady supporters. A programme of dancing was interspersed with items by Mr. Alan McElwain and Mr. E. J. Thomas, of Auckland. The floor arrangements were directed by Messrs. R. Trayes and H. Speakman. Bridge_ and other card games were supervised by Mr. S. W. House. The respective winners were: — Bridge: Mrs. Kirk and Mr. House; five hundred, Mrs. Solomon and Mr. Sherris. The ladies' committee comprised:— Mrs. Nicholson, Mrs. F. G. Massey, Mrs. A. K. Belcher. Mrs. Gordon, Miss I. Thompson., Miss I. Montgomerie and Miss M. Speakman.
