SYRIAN UNREST TROOPS ON GUARD CLASH AT BEIRUT FIVE DEATHS RESULT By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright (Received March 22, 5.5 p.m.) LONDON, March 20 French troops are guarding strategic positions in Damascus as a sequel to disturbances, after which France took over the maintenance of internal security. Further demonstrations have been forbidden. There is no indication of the Ministerial crisis ending. The Beirut correspondent of the Times reports that five persons were killed and 30 wounded yesterday in Damascus, when the police fired on student demonstrators, including girls.
