COUNTRY'S DEFENCE
TERRiTORIAL ASSOCIATION NEW BRANCH AT PAPAKURA A decision to form a branch of the New Zealand Territorial Association was made at a public meeting of Papakura residents called by the Mayor, Mr. S. Evans, in the Methodist Hall, Papaktira, last night. An address was given on the aims and objects of the association by the general secretary, Captain H. J. Gilmbre. A resolution was carried urging upon the Government the necessity for introducing the compulsory quota system in order to bring the various territorial units up tOL effective strength. The following officers were elected:— President, the Mayor, Mr. S. Evans; chairman, Mr. S. I). Rice; secretarytreasurer, Mr. S. H. Godden; committee. Messrs. W. Landman, A. W. McNeish, J. A. Wishart, E. Hosking, A. Willis, J. S. do Montalk and C. S. Jackson. The wives of members were elected as, ;i ladies' committee.
