SEASON IN AUCKLAND ACTIVITIES REVIEWED GOOD PROGRESS MADE The report of the Auckland Rugby League to be presented at the annual meeting to-morrow evening, when the president, Mr. J. A. Lee, M.P.. will preside, strikes a note of optimism. Tho report states that Marist won the senior Championship and Richmond the champion of champions honours. Auckland was strongly represented in the team that toured to Australia and did so well. The Eastern Suburbs Club, of Sydney, played three matches in Auckland, winning two and being beaten by Richmond. The financial accounts show a. marked increase in general revenuo, to which the Sydney team contributed, While added interest to the season was created by the trial games and the Auckland match against the Kiwis on their return from Australia. Income from gates, grandstand and ground rents increased by £351 8s 8d to £3701 18s sd. Representative fixtures, in which Auckland beat Canterbury and Now Zealand, and the Maoris beat the Pakehas, revoaled an increase of .CUll l:is 7d. Grants to clubs amounted to £O2B 4s 7d. The net surplus transferred to the consolidated funds was £225 l(js over that of the previous year. Bank liabilities wcro reduced by £730 and revenue-producing assets were strengthened. The, junior side of the game showed marked progress atfd a successful season was experienced by tho schoolboy section and by the referees. Thanks are extended to tho Amalgamated Senior Clubs' officers for valuable co-opera-tion, the selectors and the ladies' social committee. The game lost a number of notable stalwarts, including the late Messrs. C. Seagar. W. J. Liversidge, T. Bellamy and R. Baddiley. .
