SIDNEY TEAM'S VISIT
PROBABLE COMBINATION MATCHES AT EASTER TIME Matters in connection with the annual meeting of the Auckland Rugby League, to he held next Wednesday, were finalised at a meeting of the management committee last evening. The chairman, Mr. G. Grey Campholl, said all senior clubs had reported successful annual meetings, and the prospects for the season appeared bright. Advico had been received that the Sydney team to play at Easter would probably include the following players: —J. Sharman (\Ycstorn Suburbs), A. Mitchell (CanterburyBankstawn), F. Dhu, R. Harrison, R. Thompson (North Sydney), F. Hyde, J. L. Queale.v, J. Rodman. F. Griffiths, G. Watts (Balmain), J. Arnold, J. McCarthy, H. Pierce, S. Pearcc, R. Stehr and R. O'Loan (Eastern Suburbs). ■ ...... Tho secretary, Mr. I. Culpan, reported that lighting arrangements had been finalised for combined club training, which would take placo at Carlaw Park this evening under a special coach. , , Mr. Campbell said that a delegation had attended oach annual meeting of the clubs and it was apparent that there was a great deal of enthusiasm in view of the early opening of the season. Dealing with the question of selectors for the New Zealand ' team, it was decided to defer consideration until after the annual meeting on March 8. . . , The New Zealand Rugby League advised that its annual meeting would be held in Auckland on March 30. Messrs. G. Grey Campbell and R. Doblo were appointed delegates. It was further advised that nominations for managers of the New Zealand team to tour England would close on April 18. The chairman said tho matter required careful consideration, and it was .deferred until the next weekly meeting. The following applications for senior membership were approved:—H. Mhtaira, P. J. Johnson, J. Gould, AY. J. Knox, H. Hulton, N. Hulton (City).
PAPAKURA CLUB'S MEETING [rnOM OUR OWN correspondent] PAPAKURA, Wednesday The seventh annual meeting of the Papakura Rugby League Club was attended by about GO players. The president, Mr. L. McVeigh, presided. The report disclosed a membership of 108, a record for the club. Tho cup presented by the Papakura Amateur Athletic Club to tho League boy who gained the greatest number of points was won by D. Bilkey. Tho financial statement showed a handsomo credit balance after meeting all commitments. The club hopes to have seven teams in action during the coming season. The senior and senior reserve teams are to commence practices next week. The election of officers resulted as follows:—Patron, Mr. Hugh A. Pollock; president, Mr. L. McVeigh; vice-presidents, Messrs.
