HASTINGS DOINGS

FELICITATION VERY FIT ENDORSEMENT MOVES FREELY ROYAL SPADES DISPLAYS DASH [by telegraph—OWN correspondent] HASTINGS, Tuesday Some interesting work was performed at Hastings this morning, in view of the Napier Park Pacing Club's meetinc at Greenmeadows on Saturday. The galloping was accomplished on the plough, which was in good order, although not fast. Laughing Song, who has not raced this season, was hard held while running three furlongs in 425. She' has several minor placings to her credit, and it should 1 not ho long before slie' reaches the winning list. Penny Farthing and Journet completed the last three furlongs of two rounds in 41s. Penny Farthing, a four-year-old mare by Arausio from Penelophon, is very fit. Classical appeared to have the measure of Quilp at the end of six furlongs in 1.18 2-5. Classical, who won at Hastings on January 3, should not be long in winning again. She is a three-year-old filly by Siegfried from Polonaise, hence a full-sistor to Wagner and Wapaugh. Brunhild and Halley Brunhild and Halley were associated over half a mile in 51 3-ss, with little to choose between them at tho finish. Bruidiild has suffered a lapse of form, but her breeding and running in the Oaks suggest that she should be worth a trial over middle distances Sunola beat Kobi by six lengths over half a mile in 51 3-ss. Kobi is very burly, having only recently returned from a short rest at Karamu.

Lo Toquet was going very easily alongside Arctic Queen at tlio conclusion of five furlongs in 1.7. Lo Toquet has nover looked bettor than at present. Felicitation, one of the fittest horses in Hawke's Bay, ran half a mile comfortably in 51 2-ss. She has come through a splendid preparation for the Napier Cup at the hands of the veteran T. Quinlivari. Dainty Dell Beats Defray

Royal Spades was seen to much greater advantage than Fossicker over five furlongs in 1.4 4-5. Although he looks well, Fossicker appears to have lost form. Elettra and The Ring ran six furlongs easily in 1.29. Dainty Dell was too good for tho novico Defray over half a mile in 51 2-ss. Dairttv Dell should bo all the better for another gallop or two. Defray, a fottr-year-old mare by Defoe from Lady Willonvx, is now being trained by G. W. Greene. Red Witch, who returned from her successful trip to Wanganui in fine order, completed pace work with three furlongs in >'lß 2-ss. She will in all probability contest the Napier Cup on Saturday, but no definite decision has been arrived at. Grcenore, looking bottor tluin when he last raced, strode over five furlongs in I.G 1-5. Endorsement hie out nicely over three furlongs in 119 _2-ss. Parry, who was tiring at tho finish, ran six furlongs in 1.19. Imogen, who has been acquired by Mr. W. Henderson, has joined W. Griffith's stable.

HORSES FOR HUTT PARK CYRANO AND TOP HAND The pacers Cyrano and Top Hand left for Hutt Park yesterday to fulfil engagements at the Wellington Trotting Club's meeting to-morrow and on Saturday. Since his surprise win at the Auckland meeting, Cyrano has done everything required in good stylo and his latest track displays indicate good prospects ou the trip. Top Hand has made a deal of progress with racing and, if he does not find the left-handed track a disadvantage, may pay expenses. The horses will be driven by their, trainer, S. M. August.
