AWAPUNI TRACK

GALLOPS ON PLOUGH ORATORY IN GOOD FORM SUDAN GOES PLEASINGLY MILE WITH BEAUPARTIR [from ottk own correspondent] PALMERSTON NORTH, Tuesday Except for an occasional gallop, the course proper is not in use at Awapuni, and the plough was in use to-day, when horses engaged at Bulls on Saturday were given their semi-final gallops. The going was fast, but n fog made it almost impossible to time the early gallops. Oratory (G. JR. Tatteraall) galloped five furlongs in 1.5 2-5, and she finished very strongly. It is expected that she will race well at New Plymouth.

Laughing Lass, who looks none the worse for her racing at Wanganui, was let off with easy exercise. Royal Choice (Tattersall) was timed to run seven furlongs in 1.34 3-5. ; Sudan (Tattersall) accompanied Beaupartir (R. Ireland) over a mile in 1.46. They ran the first five furlongs in 1.4 2-5 and six in 1.18 2-5. Beaupartir was going easily at the finish, but Sudan galloped well for one in her class. • ' Half-mile by Snigger Vadanoo (S. M, Waddell) was not asked to do better than even time over seven furlongs. Copycat also was hard held in a working gallop. Snigger (Tattersall) and Colonel Bogey (J. Chaplin), having their first fast work for some time, spripted half a mile in 53 l-ss. Snigger is a very good track worker, but so far she has raced disappointingly. A recent addition to L. G. Morris' stable is Tom Tom, the half-sister to the Melbourne Cup winner, Catalogue. She has been at Awapuni for about a fortnight. Brazil (Ireland), who may be triod oyer longer distances, went five furlongs with Lady Ina (W. Jenkins) in 1.5 1-5, the last three in 39 l-ss. Lady Ina is in good ordct. Renascor (Kilmister) and Cuddler (Tattersall) ran five furlongs in 1.7 2-5,' the last three in 41 3-ss. Aurora's Star (Temperton) was in front of Thrasos (S. Anderson) at the end of five furlongs in 1.6 2-5, running the last three in 40 2-ss. Dainty Sue (Tattersall) and Golden Ridge (Jenkins) were associated over a mile in. 1.45 3-5. They finished together after .running the first tw r o furlongs in 265, five, in 1.5 2-5, and the last three in 40 l-os. They look to bo in good fettle for . Saturday and F. Cleaver has .been mentioned as the rider of Golden Ridge. Quadroon and Old Bill

Old Surrey (Ireland) galloped the last five of six furlongs in 1.6 3-5. Tauinau (A. McDonald) Worked well over a mile in 1.49 2-5, the last six furlongs in 1.22 3-5. Quadroon (M. Bowden) and Old Bill (Tattersali) covered the last six furlongs of a mile in 1.24. They were going comfortably,; , v/ On tlie course proper Millament (Ireland) covered six furlongs in 1.24 4-/j. Among those out doing light tasks were Conveyer, Wildflower, Catalogue, who wanted to go fast, Yed Prior, White Gold and Amyas Leigh, the halfsister by Lord Quex to Play On. The Crooner, who has been out on the hills for a considerable time, is back in work and looking a picture. He is to be prepared for tho Manawatu anil Wellington meetings and softer tracks will be to his liking.
