OLYMPIC GAMES
PREPARATIONS IN FINLAND Although the Olympic Games at Helsinki will not begin until July 20, 1940, organisation is already well under way. Invitations to compete were, sent to 60 nations last October, and many acceptances have been received. The Finnish Government has voted 200.000,000 finmarks (about £1,000.000) for the Games, and another 100.000,000 finmarks has been granted by Helsinki municipality. Plans have already been approved for the construction of an Olympic village in the suburb of Kapyla. close to the city. The village will embrace 29 threestoried houses, comprisng about 2500 rooms, with a separate restaurant and administrative centre. Training grounds for athletes and footballers will be attached.
