PIGEON RACING

WHANGAREI CLUB • [from oitr own- correspondent] WHANGAREI, Tuesday A good number of birds look part in the Whangarei Homing Pigeon Club's race from Mercer. The race was confined to young birds and with good flying conditions they were able to register a high velocity. Results were:—H. Parkins' Lawn Derby. 1235.7 yds per minute, 1; D. Millington s Smoke Screen. 1235.1yd5, 2; E. Gilbey's Spitfire, 1223 yds, 3; A. Stanton's Flannel Foot, 1218 yds, 4; D. Wilson's Sunset, 1212 yds, 5; A. Balfour's King Oolah, 1132 yds, 6. Two races will be flown next week by this club, a flock race from Wcllsford and an interval one from Auckland, the latter race carrying with it the Reed Trophy.
