RUGBY FOOTBALLER
' HAWKE'S BAY PLAYER APPOINTMENT IN AUSTRALIA [BY TELEGRAPH—OWN CORRESPONDENT] HASTINGS, v-esday E Apsey, of Hastings, will leave New Zealand shortly to take up an important post as land surveyor at Darwin for the Australian Government, and with his departure Hawke's Bay will "lose one of its leading Rugby representatives.- In the past six years Apsey has been one of the province s most prolific. scorers and has represented Hawke's Bay on most of the Rugby fields in New Zealand* He is recognised as one of the best wing-threequarters in New Zealand. Apsey has represented the North Island twice and frequently participated in trial matches for the purpose of selecting All Black teams. He is a player of class and ability and possesses a safe pair of hands. He has a particularly tricky and clever run. Apsey has suffered under one handicap, his diminutive stature.
