DECREASE IN DEATHS
MORE BIRTHS RECORDED FEBRUARY FIGURES COMPARED A decrease of 64 in th 6 number of deaths in February, compared with the figure for February last year, is revealed in the records of the registrar. For the same period births increased by 37, and there were 12 more marriage .notices issued. Marriages by the registrar decreased by 17. The total number of deaths for February was 136, bringing the number for the year to date to 289, against 379 for the same period last year. Births totalled 251 for the month and 526 to date and marriage notices 246 and 461 respectively. , FIGURES FOR HAMILTON FEWER BIRTHS RECORDED [fjiom our own correspondent} i HAMILTON, Tuesday A total of 47 births was recorded in Hamilton during February, this being a decrease of five as compared with 4he same period , last year. The total for the year to date, however, shows a substantial increase, the respective figures for 1939 and 1938 being 117 and 94. More deaths occurred in Hamilton in February this year as compared with the same month last year. Twentyeight deaths were recorded during the past 28 days, bringing the year's total to 55, the figures for February, 1938, being 19 and for the first two months last year 42. An increase of one was shown in the marriages, 25 being registered during the past month. The ■totals for two months are: —1938, 58; 1939, 46. -
