Goldfish Again!
DEAR BOYS AND GIRLS,— I WONDER if you remember reading about our balby goldfish. I expect some of you do, but you really wouldn't recognise those little fish now, they have grown so big and fat like little round barrels leaping about in the water. Grey Malcolm and I went along to the pond the other day to see them, and there, all darting about in the cool, green shallows were such numbers of big fiih and little fish; black fish, yellow fish and silver and gold fish. And there too, were Jack and Jill, the proud father and mother, darting in and out of the waterlily leaves. Some of the babies are really gold now, but, dear me, some are very ugly. They are a hideous light yellow colour with big goggly eyes staring up at one as they lazily float on the surface of the pond. Even that wise old puss, Grey Malcolm, looks startled when he sees those fish. However we are hoping they will grow more beautiful as they become older. Grey Malcolm informed me he'd like to gobble them all up, but I very carefully drew his attention to a delicious cat-mint flower growing near the stone-work of the pond. When he saw that he lost interest in the fish. As a matter of fact Grey Malcolm is cross, very cross, and all because Anno Shirley is going away for a little holiday and leaving a poor lonely cat at home. I think he's a nasty, selfish cat, don't you? But really I wouldn't be a bit surprised if when we start on our journey yre find old Grey Malcolm curled up secretly on the back seat of ' the ear, all ready to come for a holiday too! I wonder ! - I hope to have ever so many interesting things to tell ybu all next week, boys and girls, but until then, love and happiness to you all from, ><==>(
