CLANCY TO THE RESCUE
Those who read mystery fiction apparently show their loyalty to favourite detectives, judging by the fact that novelists, too, are loyal to their creations to please their public. Leo Thayer in "The Strange Sylvester Affair," puts his case once again in charge of Peter Clancy. The woman by the water's edge at the dock, and the failure of a lift are significant incidents before the "Sylvester Affair" is broached, but they are relevant as the reader discovers when J Peter Clancy solves his problem. "The Strange Sylvester Affair," by Leo Thayer. (Hurst and Blackctt.)
