FIRST COUNCIL MEETING WORK FOR TWO MONTHS MANY PATIENTS ASSISTED Work covered during the past two months was reported upon at tho first council meeting for the year of the Auckland Hospital Auxiliary held this week. Mrs. A. D. Campbell presided. Tho secretary, Miss L. Curson, in her report for tho two months, stated that toys were given at Christmas to 246 children, while 700 hospital patients had participated in tho annual treat of strawberries and cream given early in December. Garments distributed to patients both in and out of hospital numbered 94(5, whilo many patients had received orders for extra nourishment, footwear, and in special cases coal and firewood. Twenty . patients had had their tram fares paid to tho hospital. Nightgowns, dressing-gowns, pyjamas, slippers, sun hats and sun glasses had been distributed in the wards, and the babies' ward was supplied with 80 bedjackets, underclothing, dresses and jackets. The Tuberculosis Aftor-Caro Committee was reported upon by Mrs. A. Smith Gray, who stated that her committeo had done a lot of visiting into tho homes' of tubercular natients and had left orders for nourishment when necessary. Garments and books had been given to patients in tho Epsom shelters. The distribution of clothing, toys and books to patients in the Wilson Home for Crippled Children was reported upon bv the special committee, whilo all other branches had maintained their activities of helping patients in need during the two months under review.
