BOOKMAKER FINED
SMALL BETS ON DOUBLES A charge of carrying on the business of a bookmaker wa3 admitted in the Police Court yesterday by Gilbert Gilmour, labourer, who was stated to bo a first offender. Evidence showed that a constable, suspecting accused, accosted him and found two notebooks containing reference to 42 bets for 6d doubles for a prize of £1 10s. Accused said he received small wages, and bet only in a small way. A fine of £lO was imposed.
