MURRAY [by telegraph OWN correspondent] ROTORUA, Friday Reproducing the good form which enabled him to break the course record with a 64 yesterday, A. Murray, of Auckland, retained the championship played in conjunction with the annual New Zealand professional golfers' tournament to-day at Rotorua. After returning another good card of 68 in the morning Murray came home in the afternoon with a 72. By very steady golf his aggregate for the 72 holes was 273, which was one stroke less than that of W. Allbon. another Aucklandcr, who at the completion of two championship i rounds' was level with Murray with j 133. Murray's 6S in the morning was an excellent effort as at the 1-th he took six after petting into a bunker. In the afternoon he also had a six at the 10th and had to sink his putt on the 18th for a five to secure a 72 and pain a one-point lead over Allbon. Allbon who had dropped six points on the leader at the close of the third round made a strong bid for victory in the afternoon and at the turn was one under bogey figures. He completed the round in 07 which was the best of the day's play. T. S. Galloway (Rotorua), who was second to Murray at Invercargill last year, was 14 strokes behind Murray at the end of the morning round. In the afternoon he played an excellent round of 68 and with his cousin J. Galloway (Whangarei) was the only competitor to go out in 33. • X. Fuller (ChristchurchK (lid a good <>!) in the morning to place him in third position, but .in the afternoon he crashed on the homeward round with a 7-1, including a six at the I.Bth, and finished fourth. E. S. Douglas (BalmaceWari) beat A. J. Shaw (Wellington) for fifth position, Shaw's display throughout the day being far below his best form. Playing in the afternoon with Galloway he started very badly with a six at the second, a seven at the seventh and a six at the 11th. In the morning he had taken 40 to conic home, returning a 78.
