WEEK-END ATTRACTIONS

ATHLETIC CHAMPIONSHIPS The national fitness activities will be brought to a close with the Auckland Provincial Athletic Championships, to be held at Carlaw Park this afternoon. A feature of the programme will be a march past by 3000 men and women athletes. Spectacular physical culture and weight-lifting demonstrations will be witnessed, and altogether the display promises to be one of the greatest of its kind yet seen in Auckland. The Auckland summer show will be continued to-day, and, in addition to the exhibits, a variety of field displays has been arranged. An interesting programme has beon drawn up for the gymkhana to-night. The senior cricket championship will be continued at Eden Park, the principal attraction being the meeting of Eden, the leading team, and Parnell. The final of the Auckland pennant bowling competition will be contested at the Auckland Club's rink, the two finalists being Buckland's Beach and Howick. The Koval New Zealand Yacht Squadron will hold its annual race to Te Kouma, near Coromandel, for first, second and third division boats. The champion cup day of the Manukau Cruising Club and the annual regatta of the Richmond Cruising Club will also be held. In view of an approaching match with the Wellington Association, " a Possibles v. Probables match will be held by the Auckland Baseball Association at Blandford Park. An attractive programme will be presented by the ?sorth Shore Swimming and LifeSaving Club at the Milford pool tonight, when leading swimmers will take part in a carnival.
